The Cooperative Computing and Communication Laboratory (C-LAB) is a joint research and development lab from Atos and the University of Paderborn. In the C-LAB employees from the industry partner and the university - these are computer scientists, engineers, economists and psychologists - realise projects together and share visions, where daily work is characterised by scientific insights and current market requirements.
The area of work of the C-LAB is "Cooperative Computing & Communication" and comprises computer applications and techniques ("Computing") including computer-assisted communication ("Communication"). An important mission for the C-LAB is to make computer and communication techniques a real cooperation instrument ("Cooperative") for people.
Depending on the requirements of the particular project the C-LAB offers analysis, conception and realisation on the three levels business processes, user processes and technologies. The activities of the C-LAB base on solid technology skills, and are supplemented by an overview of novel technological developments, which enable an early consideration of new possible solutions. Specific fields of competence are, for example: Cyber Physical Systems which are used in many application areas such as automotive development, communication technology or robotics, self-optimising systems and Augmented Reality.
Furthermore, the C-LAB offers the opportunity - in many cases in cooperation with national and international industry companies and research centres - to carry out research and development projects. In addition, the C-LAB hosts bachelor and master theses and dissertations of the university on current topics. The theses and projects provide ideal opportunities to achieve scientific insights and at the same time to work on current topics from the industrial practice.
