Faisal Ikhlaq: Concept and prototypical implementation of a gesture based user Interface for the supervision of maintenance information

Although the computational power of the modern day computers has greatly evolved, even today the way in which we interact with these computers is far from being natural. The main aim of this thesis was to explore the possibilities of making the Human Computer Interaction more natural by using daily life gestures to interact with the computer. This was accomplished using the Microsoft Kinect sensor. The use of gestures proved to be more effortless thus providing the users a degree of freedom to operate the maintenance information of steel plant more instinctively. This resulted in making gestures a preferable choice for interaction amongst the plant managers during presentations, meetings, etc.
