Web based visual task modelling and analysis

Recently the use of user interfaces has been increasingly applied to provide and enhance the wide range of interactions performed by the user. This has led to the development of large range of interactive applications. The user interfaces act as a bridge between the users and the system. The user provides input in different ways using the various interaction resources available, the system in return processes and generates various results for the user. User interfaces now are being utilized from small size devices like mobiles and smart watches to large scale devices like traditional desktop platforms.

This has garnered a lot a focus in this field of research which aims at making these user interfaces available to large portion of the population globally in various context of use. Most organisations in this field of research focus on the user interfaces that are easily adaptable and provide a large number of functionality. However, overcoming the challenge of coping up with the ever growing demands of the user is really difficult.

This thesis focuses on one of the type of models that play a vital role in the development and design of user interfaces and their corresponding interactive applications. The models in discussion are known task models. The task models describe the activities that the user wants to accomplish with the chosen user interface[1]. The model based approaches existing today use various aspects from these task models for the design, development and evaluation of user interfaces.
