Welcome to the Knowledge-Based Systems Group
Theoretical and applied research in knowledge-based systems is centered around solving knowledge intensive tasks using computers. Whereas in general tasks as for example design of technical systems require the work of human experts, we try to identify domains, tasks, and methods that allow the development of "intelligent" systems for automatized processing of such tasks.
In the fall of 2016, Prof. Dr. Hans Kleine Büning, the head of the "Knowledge-Based Systems" department at the Institute of Computer Science, retired.
