Student Research Assistants (SHK + WHB)
For general questions about SHK + WHB-Jobs in our group, please consult with the research assistants. Currently, we are offering one open position.
We are looking for a student assistant (SHK/WHB) who can support us in our research.
The topic is the implementation of distributed algorithms for programmable matter. Programmable matter consists of small robots that can change the properties of matter autonomously and in a distributed manner. We use the amoebot model to study typical problems of programmable matter. We have already developed a simulation environment for this model.
Your tasks:
- Implement algorithms in the simulation environment
- Possibly further develop the simulation environment
What you should bring with you:
- Basic programming skills (ideally in C#)
- Ability to familiarize yourself with complex theoretical topics, in particular distributed algorithms
- For developing the simulation environment, some experience with the Unity Engine is advantageous (or the willingness to familiarize yourself with it)
What we offer:
- Flexible working hours
- Insights into exciting current research topics
The position will be limited to one year initially. If you are interested, you are welcome to contact us. Just send us an e-mail (to andreas.padalkin@upb.de and matthias.artmann@uni-paderborn.de) by June 15, 2025 with a transcript of records from PAUL. We will then arrange an appointment to discuss the working hours and further details. Applications after the deadline will only be considered if the position has not been filled by then.
