Welcome to Masters Candidate Jannes Stubbemann! Jannes is working on machine learning topics involving Boltzmann machines and quantum circuits.

Paper accepted to APPROX 2019: "Almost optimal classical approximation algorithms for a quantum generalization of Max-Cut", joint work with Ojas Parekh (Sandia National Labs, USA). (Paper still to be posted on arXiv.)

A new semester of quantum seminars at Uni Paderborn starts next week! The kick-off is led by Dominik Hangleiter (FU Berlin) on "Verification vs. approximate sampling: how hard is it to verify quantum supremacy". All are welcome.

Congratulations to Justin Yirka, our alumni undergraduate research assistant and coauthor on multiple papers, for accepting a PhD position in CS at UT Austin with Scott Aaronson!
