Navigating the Unknown: Tackling Uncertainty in Robot Control and Perception
Abstract:
This talk will address the challenges of uncertainty in the control, navigation, and perception of ground and aerial vehicles. First, learning-based control methods will be discussed as a means to manage uncertainty in robotic systems. Second, the talk will explore uncertainties arising from high-speed and agile flight applications. In particular, neuromorphic cameras will be highlighted for their ability to handle visual degradation, such as motion blur and high dynamic range effects. Additionally, transfer learning will be discussed as a cost-effective approach to share knowledge between aerial robots, improving control efficiency. Lastly, state-of-the-art drone applications, such as autonomous drone racing, will be presented.
The presentation will be held in English.

Efficient and Sustainable Networked Systems for Connected Intelligence
Abstract:
Over the past decade, we have seen remarkable advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. However, unleashing the full potential of AI requires the right support from underlying computing infrastructures. In this talk, I will highlight the crucial role of networked systems, ranging from the large-scale data center to the tiny Internet of Things (IoT), in the context of AI. I will outline my vision and novel concepts for addressing the two critical challenges of networked systems, namely efficiency and sustainability, paving the way for the realization of connected intelligence.
The presentation will be held in English.
