Matrix Webchat
MESSAGE (15 Jul 2024): Currently our web client does not work with the Firefox installation of our pool computers (or other Firefox ESR installations). If you are affected by this, please switch to another browser (e.g. Chromium) or the desktop client. If this is not possible, please contact our support.
The IRB provides a Matrix chat server for students and staff.
Matrix is comparable to Slack, and therefore also has a web-based chat interface. The interface can be used to create groups (called rooms) and to group rooms into larger "spaces".
You can also set personal preferences.
Chat clients
The following access options are available:
- Web client (provided by the IRB)
- Mobile app
- Desktop client
The IRB officially operates an associated web client.
Login is via the IRB GitLab server. This requires the "IT Services of Informatics" in the ServicePortal to be activated for use.
Currently, no UPB users can be found via the search in Matrix. A solution is being worked on. Alternatively, the IMT user name can be determined via the search in the top left-hand corner of GitLab. The user name can then be used to contact the user directly. Example
Name: Max Mustermann
IMT username: mmuster
Matrix username: @mmuster:cs.uni-paderborn University.de
