We provide computer and VM installations based on our basic systems to specialist group members and their Bachelor's/Master's theses. These systems are then considered IRB-administered.

Employees receive root/superuser rights on the systems.

Currently available systems are

The IRB services include

Installation

• Provision of a complete VM or computer installation with the respective system.
• Provision of an SSL certificate (on request)
• Institution of an offsite data backup (strongly recommended, but on request)

Maintenance

• Inclusion in automated monitoring (based on Icinga2)
• Installing updates (as part of the package management system)
• Reminder of restarts required after updates and execution of the same after one week (on request, taking into account other servers that must not be restarted at the same time)
• Carrying out and monitoring backups
• Keeping VMWare tools up to date

No services are included:

• Installation of special software that cannot be installed directly via package management
• Maintenance + configuration of software that goes beyond the standard IRB installation

Request for systems

The contact person for the installation of systems is your specialist group technician or the technical contact person of your specialist group, if available.

Requests for systems for Bachelor's and Master's theses, etc. must always be made via a member of the specialist group.

Other systems

We can initiate the installation for other systems (usually until the root password is requested), but will not administer them. In this case, you take over the administration completely yourself
