Examinations taken at other universities in Germany or abroad or in Paderborn before starting the degree programme can be recognised if they are equivalent to examinations taken on the Computer Science degree programme. As a first step, it is advisable to list and submit the credits earned at your home university.

For an initial assessment of what can be recognised, contact the Study Service Computer Science and send them an overview of your achievements and, if necessary, e.g. if the achievements were completed at a university other than Paderborn University, the module descriptions of the courses you would like to have recognised. The Study Service will then let you know which credits are likely to be recognised.

For final recognition, an application for recognition must be submitted to the examination board. You can find the forms on the website of the examination management. You can submit it to the Study Service Computer Science. It is best to visit the office hours of the Study Service or send an email to them and bring/attach the following documents:

• the application for recognition of examination results, pre-filled and signed(!) as far as possible.
• in the case of examinations taken in Paderborn
  • a confirmation of grades for the examinations taken. A screenshot from PAUL is sufficient here
• in the case of examinations not taken in Paderborn
  • an official confirmation of the grades achieved (original or certified copy) from the examination office there
  • if possible, bring documents showing the content of the courses you would like to have recognised, or look for corresponding references to course descriptions on the Internet
     
• additionally for examinations taken abroad 
   
  • if you have certificates that are not written in German or English, a certified translation into German or English
  • a certificate from the International Office about the possibilities for recognising the examination achievements of the foreign university

If all documents are complete, recognition can be granted immediately and forwarded to the Examination Office.
