In the 37th episode of the “All Day Research” podcast, we welcome Prof. Dr. Lin Wang, who talks to our host Marvin Beckmann about sustainable IoT devices and systems.
Professor Dr. Lin Wang studied in Beijing and conducted research at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) at the University of Luxembourg, at TU Darmstadt and at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam before moving to Paderborn University.
At Paderborn University, he is Professor of Computer Networks and conducts research into sustainable and efficient devices and their connections and networks.
"IoT stands for Internet of Things [...] so it's basically trying to build an Internet for different [physical] objects [or devices]," says Prof. Dr. Lin Wang, explaining the abbreviation IoT. Prof. Dr. Lin Wang is trying to optimize this network for communication between various small devices to exchange information through his research. He places a particular focus on the environmental friendliness and therefore the sustainability of the systems.
Prof. Dr. Lin Wang is also concerned with the problems of the individual devices, as their power supply must be secured and a charging process must be included in the network.
Professor Dr. Lin Wang explains further details of his research in the interview with our presenter Marvin Beckmann.
