In the 27th episode of the "All Day Research" podcast, we welcome Prof. Dr. Gudrun Oevel. Together with our host Marvin Beckmann she takes a look behind the scenes of the Information and Media Technologies Centre (IMT) at Paderborn University.
Prof. Dr. Gudrun Oevel has been head of the IMT as an adjunct professor since 2004, has also been advising the Executive Board on the development and implementation of the digitization strategy in the role of CIO since 2012, and has also been appointed as the Paderborn University's Information Security Officer since 2020. In addition to administrative tasks, she also supports scientists at the Paderborn University in their research: "For example, we implement databases, create data models or build websites to display certain data objects. That's what I find special, in addition to personnel management. It's exciting to be able to move things forward with an operational unit and maintain proximity to science," says Prof. Dr. Oevel.
At the moment, Prof. Dr. Oevel and her team are particularly busy with the web relaunch of the Paderborn University. The goal is to modernize the online presence of the Paderborn University and to better present the research services - especially for external visitors. Prof. Dr. Oevel also talks about the planning and implementation of this relaunch.
The podcast was realized in cooperation with the Department of Computer Science and the Student Council for Mathematics/Computer Science. The aim is to give more insights into science and thereby bring students - especially those in the first semester - closer to the study, to arouse interest and to show how much fun research and the study of Computer Science at the Paderborn University can be.
