In the 31st episode of the "All Day Research" podcast, we once again welcome Prof. Dr. Eric Bodden. Together with our host Marvin Beckmann, he reviews the past year 2023, provides initial insights into the coming year and answers questions from students and employees of the Faculty.
Prof. Dr. Eric Bodden has been the new Head of the Department of Computer Science since this year. Following major personnel changes this year, he sheds light on various aspects and tasks of such an institute director in this interview. Among other things, we learn more about future strategic developments, which topics in teaching and which collaborative projects are being tackled, but also how he is committed to team building among professors and staff. "I notice that there's quite a drive in the institute at the moment, there are a lot of people who are new here now, who also want to actively shape things and help out, so that cool things are happening here now."
There is also good news for students, as the podcast episode also provided information about changes to the Bachelor's and Master's examination regulations as part of the reaccreditation process. For example, the concepts and structure of the programming course in the Bachelor's degree program have been fundamentally revised and it will also be easier to combine subjects in the Master's degree program in future to give students more flexibility and enable them to complete their studies more quickly.
The podcast was created in collaboration with the Institute of Computer Science and the Computer Science Student Council. The aim is to provide more insights into science and thus bring students - especially those in their first semester - closer to their studies, arouse interest and show how much fun research and studying computer science at Paderborn University can be.
